Damages happen. Screens get broke. I had the opportunity to replace the front screen on a black 16 gig iPhone 4 recently and it was fun! I had a friend give me a white iPhone 4 that had the back glass shattered on it. I thought, “how cool would it be to have a white front and a black back on the 4 with the black home button.” So off I went in search of a good video on how to dissect the iPhone 4 and found one from Direct Fix. This video was obviously produced by a good engineer as it is direct and to the point, noting each step. There are plenty of very, very tiny screws that hold in the motherboard, camera, speaker, etc, which all happen to be different sizes. I found it important to lay them out in perspective of the orientation of the phone. You are basically taking the entire phone apart to replace the front glass portion. If it were the back glass, it would simply be taking out the two screws from the external bottom of the phone, sliding it off and sliding on the new one. This brings me to another topic, to many people bitching about the iPhone not having an easily replaceable battery. Replacing the battery is a 5-10 minute project, remove two screws, slide off the back, disconnect the battery terminal and pulling out the battery which by the way you can buy for $19.99.
Another thing that is amazing once you see the guts of the iPhone is the size of the camera and especially the quality of images the 4 and better yet, the 4S take. I know this isn’t soley based on the hardware (camera) and is also software related but the camera housing isn’t much more than 3/8″x3/8″ in size. Pretty impressive images come out of these cameras and it will only get better with each generation.
The only tools you need for this (which Direct Fix carries them all) are the pentalobe screwdriver (only on certain iPhones) and small flat and phillips screwdrivers. It doesn’t hurt to order the plastic pry tool that they sell either which is good for prying up the connectors, motherboard, etc.
So there it is, the Black and White iPhone 4, quite the original. I left the black button in because I thought it looked cool on the white front.

Jabberbox Designs held under the company Modine Web Development & Drafting LLC has developed the first ever injection molded cool and techy carrying case for the Jawbone Bluetooth Headsets. It was really born out of necessity. The third generation Prime headset had a habit of getting turned on and off easily if you had it in your pocket or in a purse. The headsets are also extremely easy to misplace. That is where the Jabberbox comes in especially if you travel a lot. It aids in protecting the $100 headset and prevents you from losing it.

The I phone 4 that I currently use is getting a warning screen, “The iPhone needs to cool down before you can use the flash.” What is the problem? Not sure other than possibly a bug in the firmware. Or wait, the iPhone 4 doesn’t support Flash so why does it need to cool down? (joke..).
